Why self-love is so important

Everything starts with you

Life is not the easiest sometimes, I get it. There are days where you feel like you can't get up, can't show up, can't do the things you're "supposed" to do. Honestly, I think a harsh but important truth is that those days are inevitable, because that's life and you're a human being, not some kind of robot. It's normal to experience "bad" feelings. But it's also important to realize, that you do have control over these days and feelings. You, and only you, get to determine how good or bad your day is.

You have the strength

When we procrastinate, it's often times because we're subconsciously afraid of the outcome of whatever we're supposed to do or because we think we're not good enough or capable enough to achieve that goal ( whatever that might be, e.g. good grades, your body goals, etc. )
The truth is, you're only as good and capable as you believe you are. And that's where self-love comes to play. When you truly love and most importantly accept yourself, you'll believe in your strength to either reach that goal or handle any obstacle that comes your way. You'll be more compassionate and understanding not only with yourself but also with others. And not to forget : Forgiveness. It's okay to fail and make mistakes. Not only is it okay, but it's also necessary for your growth and self-developement.
Self-love is a journey that will take a lifetime. We're constantly growing and evolving and falling back into old patterns because, as I said, we're human. So don't expect to magically love yourself unconditionally and never have a bad day in your life ever again. It's a process and it takes a lot of reminders, determination and dedication.

How self-care makes you love yourself

One step to loving yourself more is self-care. Doing what is good for your mind, body and soul. That may look different for everyone, it depends on your love language , your hobbies and many other components. A good way to start is to write down a list with all the things you enjoy doing or experiencing. You really enjoy going to a cafe and drink your favourite coffee there but no one wants to go with you? Take yourself on a solo-date. You feel loved when you receive gifts? Buy yourself something nice, treat yourself, you deserve it. If your love language is words of affirmation stay in front of a mirror and say nice things to yourself, something that would make you happy to hear from someone else. You see, there are many ways to show yourself some love without depending on another person. Another thing that also falls into the self-care category are small, basic tasks to feel good in your body. That may be a glass of water in the morning right when you wake up or a quick stretch, brushing your hair, putting make-up on or putting on your favourite perfume.
This way you show yourself that you're important and that you deserve to be taken care of, this may also boost your confident and makes you feel ready for whatever comes your way that day.

Success will come with consistency

Keep in mind that whatever it is in life, it comes with consistency. I know, we all wish to reach our goals over night and wake-up living our dreamlife but that's not how life works ( in most cases ).
Just know that, whatever it is that you want to achieve in this life, you have everything it takes to reach that goal and live the life of your dreams.
